Vaccinations are the most effective way to prevent infectious diseases, such as flu, chickenpox, meningitis B, pneumonia, measles, mumps, rubella, and HPV. Vaccinations are also essential when visiting certain countries and travelling abroad.

Our private vaccination service is available for anyone who wants to receive a vaccination in a quick, hassle-free way or who can’t get the vaccination for free on the NHS.
It’s ideal for those planning a trip abroad, starting college or university, or starting a role as a front-line health care or social care worker.

1. Book your vaccination appointment
First, you need to make your appointment. Either pop into your local Whitworth Pharmacy or give us a ring. If you need multiple vaccinations or are planning to travel abroad, please discuss with your pharmacist so we can create the right vaccination schedule for you.2. Come for your appointment
When you arrive at the pharmacy, you’ll need to let a member of the pharmacy team know that you’re here for your vaccinations. You’ll then be taken to a private consultation room.Your pharmacist will ask you a series of questions about your health including any allergies you might have, your medical history, your general health and any medicines you are taking.
They will also tell you more about the vaccination you will receive and encourage you to ask any questions.
3. Receive the vaccination
If the vaccination is suitable for you, you’ll be given your vaccination in your upper arm or thigh. Certain vaccinations require you to return for a second (or even third dose) at a later date. Speak to your pharmacist to find out more. -
1. Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes, you need to make an appointment for most of our vaccinations. If you’re planning a trip abroad, your first appointment should be at least six weeks before you travel. Visit our travel vaccinations page here.2. How much do the speciality vaccinations cost?
Each vaccination is priced differently. Visit the relevant pages for more information or speak to your friendly pharmacist.3. Do I need to have these vaccinations every year?
No. Most of the vaccinations we offer provide full cover from the illness with one or two doses. The exception to this is the flu vaccine which must be given every year.
