Protect yourself with our needle & syringe exchange service

Injecting is one of the riskiest ways of using drugs such as heroin, crack, amphetamines, steroids or other substances.

If you are not using fresh needles and syringes each time, you are at an increased risk of contracting diseases such as Hepatitis C, HIV and tuberculosis, as well as getting nasty infections.

The free Needle and Syringe Exchange Service offered by Whitworth Pharmacy provides you with a safe supply of needles and syringes so you can reduce these risks and a safe place to dispose of your used equipment.

Visit your Whitworth pharmacy or give us a ring to find out more.

The Needle and Syringe Exchange is a free service which gives injecting drug users access to sterile needles and syringes as well as a sharps container for the safe disposal of used equipment.

Our non-judgmental pharmacy staff can also provide information on safe injection practices to reduce the risk of health problems and infections. We can also help you to access further support if required and are happy to answer any of your questions or concerns.

This service is for those over the age of 18 who inject:

  • Heroin

  • Crack

  • Amphetamines

  • Steroids or other performance or image-enhancing drugs (PIEDs)
