Protect yourself with our free condom supply service

Sexually active (or just thinking about it)? Aged between 13 and 24 years old?

You could get free condoms as part of the C-Card Scheme that will protect you against STIs and unwanted pregnancy.

Visit your local Whitworth Pharmacy to find out if you can get free condoms via the C-Card scheme.

Condoms are the only type of protection that can protect both partners against sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea and HIV, as well as prevent pregnancy. They’re easy to use, convenient, and they do not carry any medical side effects.

They’re made from a thin layer of latex (rubber), polyurethane or polyisoprene and are known as a ‘barrier method’ as they prevent direct contact between the genitals, skin and body secretions. If you have a latex allergy, you may need to use alternate methods or there may be latex-free condoms you could use.

When used correctly, they’re around 98% effective.

The C-Card scheme by the Terrence Higgins Trust helps sexually active young people get hold of free condoms to protect them from transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies.

It’s a scheme commissioned by the local authority and available in certain Whitworth pharmacies.

  • The C-Card scheme is designed for young people between the ages of 13 and 24. Even if you’re not eligible for the scheme, you can find a range of condoms for sale in all of our pharmacies. (Find your closest Whitworth here.)

  • Step 1: Join the scheme.
Find your local participating C-Card pick-up point and drop in to sign up. It’s free and confidential and you do not have to give your name and address. If you are aged 13-15 years old, you will have a quick chat with a trained professional to ensure you are safe and supported when it comes to making sexual health choices.

Step 2: Receive your free condoms and lube pack.
Once you have signed up, you will be given your free pack of condoms and lube.

Step 3: Get more condoms and lube if required.
Just take your C-Card along to your local participating Whitworths and we will provide more free condoms and lube.

  • 1. What if I am not sexually active?
You can still sign up for the C-Card scheme if you are just thinking about having sex.

    2. What if I am over 24 years old?
The C-Card scheme is for young people aged under 24 so you will not be eligible for the scheme. However, every Whitworth pharmacy sells condoms both online and in-store that can help protect your sexual health.

    3. Do all Whitworth Pharmacies offer the scheme?
Currently, only selected pharmacies are offering the C-Card scheme. Pop in or give us a ring to find out if your local Whitworth is participating.

Condoms are the only form of protection that can protect both partners from both sexually transmitted infections as well as unwanted pregnancy. If you’re aged between 13-24 and are sexually active then you may be eligible for free condoms as part of the C-Card scheme. Drop by your local Whitworth Pharmacy to find out more.
